Il progetto “Changes”
Changes is the name of the initiative created with the aim of introducing the complex and multifaceted world of cultural heritage restoration and conservation to a wider, cross-sectional audience than the classic audience of insiders.
The protagonist of the project is theOpificio delle Pietre Dure, the centuries-old institution now under the aegis of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, devoted to the restoration and preservation of the artistic heritage, especially the latest technical innovations in the field developed by the institute itself.
The medium chosen for the purpose could only be photography, one of the most popular and universal languages, as well as the one that since its inseparable inception has combined in itself the rigor of scientific documentation and the creative freedom of artistic practice.
The collaboration with Fondazione Studio Marangoni
The project, conceived by Emanuela Daffra and promoted by the Opificio delle Pietre Dure, and developed in collaboration with Fondazione Studio Marangoni, involving established photographers and young authors-in-training.
The photographic project is curated by Martino Marangoni, Giuseppe Toscano and Bärbel Reinhard, who accompanied the dialogue between different languages, sensibilities and visual experiences.
Each author was given the opportunity to freely interpret people, activities and spaces of the Opificio through a personal project, built from his or her own gaze and research.
A choral work between contemporary photography and research
The result is a choral work that weaves together different approaches, aesthetics and visions, yet maintains a strong narrative and design coherence.
The images restore the Opificio as a place of research, experimentation and care, where tradition and innovation coexist daily. Through the plurality of gazes, a broader reflection on the relationship between cultural heritage, sustainability, transformation and memory emerges.
The final outcome of the project will be presented through an exhibition at fsmgallery and a dedicated publication.
